The members of the Tryon Civitan Club are community-minded, socially-aware individuals, who wish to reach beyond the confines of home and family, to stretch beyond social groups and the demands of a career.
Our membership currently is comprised of men and women of all ages. Some of our members are career-oriented and some are enjoying retirement.
The individual members are drawn together into a cohesive team by their mutually shared concerns, interests, and goals. Our aims are: to improve the quality of life for others; to gain a broader knowledge of our city, nation and the world; and to join hands in a bond of friendship with other Civitan members.
While most of our attention is directed toward meeting the needs of others and helping them to cope with their problems, we realize that at the same time we are enriching our own lives. |

What We Are |
We are one small part of Civitan International, a worldwide service organization. The members of the Tryon Civitan Club are dedicated to the principle that we should give some portion of our time and energies, sharing our talents and abilities, so that our community can be a better, happier place for all to live.
Our concern and caring brings us to action wherever there is a need: a neglected child, a forgotten convalescent, a lonely senior citizen, or a mentally or physically challenged individual. We believe in the inherent goodness of each person. As members we assume a personal responsibility to allevite some of humankind's problems. |

What We Do
The activities and projects of the Tryon Civitan Club members are varied so each member is able to select the ones in which to participate according to the member's concerns and interests. As special needs arise in the community, our members respond.
Our community involvement covers a wide range: sponsoring monthly bingo for seniors in a local nursing center, supplying Easter egg baskets for handicapped children, filling the Christmas "wish list" of a local foster child, picking up trash along a highway, hosting an annual recognition luncheon for the Guardians ad Litem, serving as officials at local Special Olympics basketball and track and field events, helping with Habitat for Humanity projects, and in a host of other service projects. We support the Boys and Girls Home, Coastal Women's Shelter, Merci Clinic, RCS, and other such charities.
By working together and combining our abilities and special talents, we give service to others. At the same time we are strengthening friendships and discovering a special kind of personal fulfillment. |
